In 1999, six American college students traveled to Komenda, Ghana, on an independant service mission. What they experienced there challenged their understanding of the world as Americans: they realized that the education they received as participants in the community was as great if not greater than any education they passed on.

Based on this humble understanding, the GEP embarked on a progam building mission. 8 years, 120 AIDS Awareness workshops, 8 Libraries, 2 Documentaries, and one mobile hospital design later, The Ghana Education Project is on the brink of realizing a truly revolutionary program in volunteer-driven international assistance...

"I appreciate the dedication and sincerity of the GEP which is evidenced by its previous work. I am hopeful that the youth vigor and potential effectiveness envisioned by the GEP will assist the US in maintaining its responsibility as a leader of the global community."
  -Senator Arlen Specter

"The Ghana Education Project is timely and forward thinking. In my opinion, it will represent a significant step forward in the field of international assistance for education and development."
-Hon. Prof. C. Ameyaw-  Akumfi, Minister of   Education, Ghana
